Churchill Road Masterplan + Upgrade

With the impending electrification of the northern rail line and upgrade of stations, Jensen PLUS delivered a Masterplan which provided a framework for the complete transformation of Churchill Road from an unattractive freight corridor to a mixed-use precinct.

The project included extensive consultation with the Prospect community, traders and other stakeholders and government agencies. Whilst retaining the corridor’s important freight role, our team identified the opportunity to transform Churchill Road into a more attractive boulevard lined with higher density housing and other complimentary mixed use developments, taking advantage of its strategic location in Adelaide’s inner northern suburbs.

Following the masterplan we completed the detailed design and documentation of the street upgrade and supervised the construction works. Concurrently, Council and the State Government rezoned the corridor to enable the land use intensification.

Now completed, the roadway has been transformed into an attractive boulevard with single vehicle lanes and a bike lane in each direction. Footpaths have been widened and landscaped with indented parking — all setting the scene for significant investment in higher density medium-rise apartment developments and commercial upgrades that is now occurring along its length.
