Jensen PLUS has developed a masterplan for the car park and surroundings at popular Goolwa Beach. The plan accommodates a proposed new surf lifesaving club, increased parking, a kiosk and places for people to congregate and enjoy the unique coastal environment.
The project involved extensive engagement with the Surf Lifesaving Club, Alexandrina Council, conservation organisations, the indigenous custodians of the place, the local residential and visiting community and other users of the site (such as the 4WD Association and Horse Riding groups). This process provided much insight into how the site is used and promoted community buy-in.
The final masterplan balances vehicle, cyclist and pedestrian access to the car park, reconfigures and expands on parking available and introduces additional landscape and people-oriented space. It also considers sustainable beach access in the future and the potential for a new cafe/kiosk.
