Uniting Communities provides community and care services to over 20,000 South Australians through more than 90 community service programs. Jensen Planning + Design were pleased to be part of the team to design and deliver approval for a new building at Uniting Communities’ Pitt Street site that will allow them to improve and build on their service delivery, and ultimately strengthen the Adelaide community into the future.
The 19-storey building will be one of the most mixed-use buildings in Adelaide, if not Australia, and become the centre of Uniting Communities’ extensive service offering. It will also create specialist disability long-term rental and respite accommodation, along with unique city retirement living, and office, hospitality and community spaces.
Jensen Planning + Design successfully negotiated the project through a compressed, but collaborative, design review and approval process, where a number of design challenges associated with a building catering for a wide variety of users were successfully resolved.
Positioned on the soon to be upgraded ‘Market to Riverbank’ link, the development will add activity to this important pedestrian connection. The redevelopment also includes a new public space at Penaluna Place, further strengthening the urban quality of this part of the city.
