For three decades, Jensen PLUS has been shaping major growth areas, significant development sites, main street precincts, parks and reserves across South Australia and Australia.
We take a collaborative approach to our work to achieve more for our clients; to tailor innovative and creative solutions; and to create new places and breathe life into the old.
Collectively we want to do good for communities across Australia so we take the time and draw on the diverse expertise of our team to understand the experiences and aspirations of all stakeholders.
Over the previous three decades, Jensen PLUS has evolved and always played a key role in laying the foundations on which communities will thrive well into the future.
And we continue to evolve.
Our multi-disciplinary team has grown to include South Australia’s most experienced and brightest planners, landscape architects and urban designers who prioritise cultural heritage, local environment and preservation of climate in all projects we lead and deliver.
Not only has our team grown and evolved but so has our approach to our work and the values that inform it.
Our work has long been underpinned by a clear commitment to sustainable practices and outcomes. But it is increasingly apparent that this isn’t enough.
We take our role in nurturing and preserving our environment seriously and aim enhance it for future generations. This is why we have adopted a ‘regenerative’ approach to planning and design, emphasising the need for positive and restorative change for local environments, communities and economies through all our work.
Jensen PLUS is consistently recognised locally and across Australia, with more than 50 state and national awards celebrating our success, innovation and achievements. We take our role in building a positive future for our planet seriously.
The foundations of our business date back to the early 1990s when respected urban designer Peter Jensen established Jensen Planning + Design.
In 1994, when Peter coined the name ‘Planning + Design’, the combination of planning and urban design practice was innovative and unique.
For two decades, Peter positioned the business as a leading planning and design practice based in Adelaide, carefully building a respected and trusted brand by forging positive relationships with clients and stakeholders and delivering exceptional outcomes.
Now 30 years on, those foundations have served the business well.
In 2015, Michael McKeown took ownership of Jensen Planning + Design. With a reputation for excellence and a desire to build on and further enhance capacity, capability and performance under new leadership, the business was rebranded as Jensen PLUS in early 2017.
The rebrand signified that Jensen Planning + Design had become much more than a planning and urban design consultancy, and was supported by a diverse and talented team that could deliver even more benefits to clients.
The name Jensen PLUS not only acknowledges our roots and our planning (P) and urban design (U) pedigree, but our strong capabilities and success in landscape architecture (L), stakeholder and community engagement (S), policy and project management.
Michael continues to build on the foundations laid by Peter, leading the evolution of Jensen PLUS and further positioning the business as an innovative and community-focussed urban design and planning consultancy in South Australia.
In recent years the business expanded focus into regional towns and cities across Australia, taking our well-regarded engagement techniques, master planning skills and urban design approach to numerous places and communities.
Sustainability has long been a focus of the Jensen team, along with good planning, well-designed places, and fair and equitable community outcomes.
Since 2019 Jensen PLUS has been a carbon-neutral certified business, and we continue to develop our practice into regenerative approaches to our work and to our business.
Our commitment to regenerative planning and design is underpinned by core values and a clear, strategic intent that ensures we remain focused and deliver outcomes that achieve client objectives and align with ours.
