UDIA Study Tours Adelaide’s Newest and Best Developments
The Urban Development Institute of Australia (UDIA) brought their national congress to Adelaide recently. Our team joined the fun and the study tours to some of Adelaide’s newest and best developments. Some snapshots:
Norwood Green (Buildtec / Catcorp) on busy Magill Road is surprisingly light and green. The large courtyards between buildings and naturally lit and ventilated corridors work really well. Outdoor seating and eating next to Aldi’s car park, kind of works too. Nice project.
North Adelaide’s 88 O’Connell Street (Commercial & General) is maybe not our style, but it’s certainly stylish.
Glenside’s many townhouse and apartment buildings (Cedar Woods) have tested new forms and scales since 2017 and with the over 55’s Bloom Apartments a new community mix.
West (Commercial & General) was once the SANFL headquarters and match venue and still boasts a football training presence. What a great way to anchor a new community and urban developments.
Fort Largs (Peet) is a deserved national award winner this year. A stunning mix of housing and public spaces weaved around a 19th Century defensive fortification showing the placemaking potential of constrained sites.
Well done Peet!
