More award-winning projects by Jensen PLUS

Friday 19th October was an eventful night for the Jensen PLUS team as we attended both the 2018 Urban Development Institute and Mainstreet SA Awards, walking away with wins for our work on the Minda redevelopment and Goodwood Road.

The Goodwood Road Revitalisation Project involved creating a fresh look for a much-loved main street. The project required long term collaboration by multiple stakeholders, designing streets for business prosperity and people, clever landscape design, quality local public art, and multi-agency infrastructure coordination, to support a successful main street, all on a major arterial road. The Goodwood Road Revitalisation Project won the Public Space and Streetscape Design Award at the 2018 Mainstreet SA Awards. This Award recognises street design and development work that enriches public spaces to create a cohesive and inviting mainstreet, laneway, town centre or precinct.

Following the street upgrade, the precinct now boasts more greening, new street lights, brick paving, improved pedestrian crossings and wider more accessible footpaths accommodating more outdoor dining opportunities. The project has greatly enhanced the precinct and is helping to establish it as a destination of choice for locals and visitors.
The judges commented as follows:

This project involves a series of eclectic and interesting enhancements that have been highly successful at retaining and enhancing the ‘village’ feel on a major arterial road. The consultation process alone was massive, let alone the bringing together of so many working parts to deliver a brilliant outcome. The planter boxes that integrate seating with art without obstructing space for walking are a lovely feature that fit so well with Goodwood Roads eclectic village vibe.

The results of the upgrade have been strongly embraced by City of Unley, local traders and the community. If you haven’t already viewed our short video on Goodwood Road click here.

The UDIA SA Awards for Excellence program recognises the most outstanding examples of built form and masterplanned developments, with the Professional Consulting Award designed to recognise a specialist consultant in delivering a creative and innovative design and/or execution to a development challenge.

Jensen PLUS are very proud to have assisted Minda with the preparation of their master plan through to the delivery of the second stage of their redevelopment at Brighton. This fabulous new facility includes more new Minda resident accommodation in the form of 18 dwellings and two apartment buildings, a  lifestyle precinct accommodating Minda’s day facilities, and the second stage of the Brighton Dunes retirement apartments, and it is an honour to be recognised for our work on this project.

We would like to pass on our enormous thanks to our clients Minda Incorporated and City of Unley, and all our colleagues who contributed to these two fantastic projects.
