The Port Adelaide Civic Area Precinct Plan sets a bold and long-term agenda for revitalising the historic heart of the Port through civic and community infrastructure and placemaking.
Developed by Jensen PLUS for the City of Port Adelaide Enfield, the Plan outlines a cohesive strategy for civic, community, cultural and commercial renewal. At its core are seven transformational projects including: a new city library and community hub, to be co-located with council and visitor services, Black Diamond Square event space, and the reshaping of Commercial Road into a civic street and green space connecting the river to the heart of the city centre.
The Plan blends heritage sensitivity within a State Heritage Area, regenerative planning principles guiding nature, culture and community integration, and strong public realm ideas to create a place that is welcoming, inclusive and future-ready.
Developed through in-depth investigations and co-design with stakeholders, the Plan positions Council well to secure funding and deliver staged implementation in coming years.
